Description of key information

The test item Tar wood is considered as not oxidising, as the pressure of the mixture test item and cellulose never reached 2070 kPa within 60 seconds.

This study was performed in order to determine the oxidising properties of Tar wood.

The liquid is mixed in a 1 to 1 ratio, by mass, with fibrous cellulose and introduced into a

pressure vessel. If during mixing or filling spontaneous ignition occurs, no further testing is

necessary. If spontaneous ignition does not occur the full test is carried out. The mixture is

heated in a pressure vessel and the mean time taken for the pressure to rise from 690 kPa

to 2070 kPa above atmospheric is determined. This is compared with the mean pressure

rise time for the 1:1 mixture of the reference item and cellulose.

In the test for oxidising properties of liquids, the pressure of all mixtures of test item with cellulose 1:1 did not reach the pressure of 20.7 bar in any performed experiment.

Therefore, the test item Tar wood is classified to be not oxidising.

All validity criteria were met.

No signs of oxidising properties of the test item could be observedthroughout the course of the test.

The variation of all evaluated experiments was below 30%.

Therefore, the determination can be considered to be valid. No observations werde made

which might cause doubts concerning the validity of the study outcome.
