Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Physico-chemical properties of registered substance were determined from experimental testing, except water solubility, partition coefficient and vapour pressure that were derived from available data on constituents in a constituents approach. Some endpoints were waived, based on chemical structure of constituents or experience in handling and use of the substance.

The substance is a pale yellow liquid at ambient temperature

It is expected to float over water, because of its low relative density (0.8805). The major constituents are slightly soluble to soluble components (2.012 to 1590 mg/L). It is slightly volatile and is considered to have surface active potential.

It is NOT classified as hazardous with regard to physical hazards (flammability, explosivity, oxidising properties, self-heating, self reactive substance and organic peroxide) based on Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP regulation)

However, the substance is classified  as Flammable Liquid Category 4 according to GHS.

Additional information

Summary of relevant physico-chemical properties:

Endpoint (method)

Data

Appearance

(visual)

Registered substance is a colourless to pale yellow organic liquid at 20 °C and 1 atm.

Melting/Freezing point

(description of the test item state at -20°Cas recommended in EFFA/EFEO guideline)

The Melting / freezing point of test item was stated as <-20°C

Boiling point

(OECD 103/EU A2, Siwoloboff, partially closed under argon)

The boiling point of test itemwas stated as 172.0 ± 0.2 °C (445.2 ± 0.2 K) at 101.325 kPa

Relative density

(OECD 109/EU A3, oscillating densitymeter)

The relative density (D20/20) of test item was determined to be 0.8805 +/-0.0002

less dense than water

Granulometry

not applicable (liquid)

Vapour pressure

(Constituent approach - literature and QSAR data on constituents)

The Vapour Pressure of the registered substance has been calculated at ca 113 Pa considering the major constituents of the substance (more than 70% of the composition in the range between 14.8 and 358 Pa at 25°C)

Log Kow

(Constituent approach - literature and QSAR data on constituents)

The logKow of the major constituents of the substance

(more than 70% of the composition) are ranging between 2.97 and 4.80.

Water solubility

(Constituent approach - literature and QSAR data on constituents)

The water solubility of the major constituents of the substance(more than 70% of the composition) are ranging between

2.012 and 1590 mg/L at ambient temperature

Surface tension

(OECD 115/EU A5, plate method)

The surface tension of an aqueous solution of the test item (90% of the saturation solubility) was determined to be 50.01 ± 0.55mN/m at 19.6°C.

As the result is below the threshold value of 60mN/m, the substance is considered to have surface active potential under the experimental conditions based on EUA5 criteria.

However since the structures of the constituents of the substance are not characteristic of true surfactants and considering that it is not the intended use of the substance (i.e. not a desired property), this conclusion should be taken with caution

Auto-ignition temperature

(EU A15)

Auto-ignition of the test item was determined as 250+/-5°C (between 101.135 and 101.276 kPa).

Flammability

Flash-point

(EU A9, ISO 2719 -A/B, non-equilibrium closed cup)

Contact with air/water

(Waiving)

Self-heating

(waiving)

With a flash point of 78.0 +/-0.5°C, under Argon.

the registered substance is NOT classified as a Flammable Liquid according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP regulation) but it is classified as Flammable Liquid Category 4 according to GHS.

No hazardous reaction anticipated if contact with air or water. Waiving, based on structure and experience.

No self-heating potential. Waiving based on physical state (liquid)

Explosive properties

(waiving)

Waiving based on chemical structure of the constituents of the substance.

Registered substance is not to be classified as explosive material.

Oxidising properties

(waiving)

Waiving based on chemical structure of the constituents of the substance.

Registered substance is considered to have no oxidizing properties

Self-reactive properties

(waiving)

No potential.

Waiving based on chemical structure

Organic peroxide

(waiving)

Not an organic peroxide.

Waiving based on chemical structure

Slight variations are possible with composition (UVCB substance).
