Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Physico-chemical properties of registered substance were determined from experimental testing, except Partition coefficient and Water solubility that were derived from QSAR data on constituents in a constituents approach. Some endpoints were waived, based on chemical structure of known constituents and/or experience in handling, testing and use of the substance.

The substance is a light yellow to amber mobile liquid at ambient temperature.

It is expected to float over water, because of its low relative density (0.9209). The substance contains constituents having different water solubilities and volatilities.

The substance is classified as combustible liquid, Category 4  according to UN Globally Harmonized System (GHS criteria).

Otherwise, no other hazard was identified with regard to physical properties (flammability, explosivity, oxidising properties, self-heating substance, self-reactive substance, organic peroxyde) based on Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP regulation).

Note that the result obtained on this kind of substance should be largely influence by small amounts of volatile constituents and these values may represent a limited part of the substance. Therefore the result should be considered with caution when used for subsequent assessment (worst case).

Log Kow at 25°C

(Constituent approach - QSAR data on constituents)

The logKow of the major constituents of the substance (corresponding to more than 79 and 85% of the composition depending on the quality) are ranging between 2.8 and 6.9 mg/L at ambient temperature for the carotol-rich quality and between 2.5 and 6.9 mg/L for the geraniol-rich quality.

Water solubility

(Constituent approach - QSAR data on constituents, Mixture approach)

The water solubility of the major constituents of the substance(corresponding to more than 79 and 85% of the composition depending on the quality) are ranging between 0.000388 and 41.3 mg/L at ambient temperature for the carotol-rich quality and between 0.000365 and 137 mg/L for the geraniol-rich quality.
