Based on the available data on physical and chemical properties (flash point of 44.7 degrees Celsius), Nutmeg oil is classified as "R10: flammable" under Directive 67/548/EEC and as "flammable liquid category 3 (H226)" under Regulation 1272/2008/EC.

The substance is a colourless or pale yellow liquid with a spicy odour.

The melting point is < -20 degrees Celsius. The boiling point is 167.7 degrees Celsius at an atmospheric pressure of 99.2 kPa.

The relative density was determined to be 0.8998 at 20 degrees C according to OECD 109.

The calculated initial vapour pressure determined by the constituent approach was 379 Pa at 25 degrees Celsius.

The calculated log Kow for the constituents ranged from 2.65 - 4.88.

The calculated water solubilities for the constituents ranged from 2.6192 - 2095 mg/l.

The surface tension was determined to be 59.4 mN/m at 19.6 ºC according to OECD 115.

The flashpoint was determined to be 44.7 degrees C according to ASTM D 6450.

The self-ignition temperature was determined to be 270 degrees C according to DIN51794 -C98835.
