The first DSC measurement in an aluminium crucible with a hole showed an endothermal effect in the temperature range of 75 – 215 °C, followed by an exothermal effect (265 – 450 °C). After the measurement the test item was a black residue. The mass loss after the DSC measurement amounted to 40 %. The second DSC measurement in an aluminium crucible with a hole showed an endothermal effect in the temperature range of 85 – 215 °C. The measurement was terminated at 250 °C, before the exothermal effect in the first measurement. The mass loss after the DSC measurement amounted to 12 %. The results of the DSC measurements are summarized inTable1.

The mass loss in the second measurement corresponds to the water content of the test item. Hence, the endothermal effect may be, inter alia, attributed to the evaporation of water. Under consideration of the results from the DSC measurements it was concluded that the test item had no melting point and no boiling point at atmospheric conditions. Decomposition started at approx. 265 °C.
