Executive summary:

The acute fish toxicity of FAT 21016/A was assessed in a study conducted accoding to a methodology similar to OECD 203. Groups of Rainbow trouts, each containing 8 fish, were exposed to the test concentrations of 2, 20 and 100 mg/L for 48 h. No mortality was seen at 2 mg/L, while 1 fish was found dead at 20 mg/L after 48 h exposure. At 100 mg/L, no exposed fish survived. Hence, the LC50 of the test substance was found to be 40 mg/L.

Description of key information

The acute toxicity of Acid Violet 109 was assesed in couple studies conducted using methodology similar to OECD Guideline 203. In the study considered as key, groups of Rainbow trouts, each containing 8 fish, were exposed to the test concentrations of 2, 20 and 100 mg/L for 48 h. No mortality was seen at 2 mg/L, while 1 fish was found dead at 20 mg/L after 48 h exposure. At 100 mg/L, no exposed fish survived. Hence, the LC50 of the test substance was found to be 40 mg/L. However, in a supporting study, no mortality was observed when groups of fish were exposed to FAT 20200/A at the test concentrations of 100, 200 and 1000 mg/L for 48 h. Hence, the TL50 of Acid Violet 109 in this study was found to be 1000 mg/l.
