Description of key information

Two acute aquatic toxicity studies were conducted with two different batches of the substance to assess the effect on micro-organisms.
Batch I23-090312: 3h-EC50 = 579 mg/L and 3h-EC10 = 64 mg/L
Batch 129958: 3h-EC50 = 365 mg/L and 3h-EC10 = 64 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
365 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
64 mg/L

Additional information

Acute aquatic toxicity studies were performed to assess the effect of two different batches of the substance on micro-organisms according to OECD guideline 209 and in compliance with GLP. The test materials were tested at different concentrations and the inoculum (microbial source) was activated sludge of a predominantly domestic sewage. Toxicity to micro-organisms was assessed by measuring the respiration rate. Two controls without test substance were included in the test design, one at the start and the other at the end of the test series. 3,5-dichlorophenol was used as a reference substance at concentrations of 2.5, 5, 10, 20 and 40 mg/L.

Under the test conditions, the 3h-EC50 was 579 mg/L for batch I23-090312 and 365 mg/L for batch 129958. The 3h-EC10 was 64 mg/L for both batches. Therefore the substance was considered not harmful to activated sludge.

The lowest 3h-EC50 and 3h-EC10 values were retained as key values for the chemical safety assessment.
