Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Oxooil LS9 is not expected to be toxic to sediment dwelling organisms. No study is therefore proposed.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The measured adsorption coefficient of Oxooil LS9 (Log Koc 3.2) indicates that there would be potential for distribution to the sediment. However, Oxooil LS9 is a poorly soluble, complex mixture (UVBC), and a toxicity test using sediment dwelling organisms would require exposure via a method based on the principles of ‘water accommodated fractions’. Since it would not be possible to attribute any potential effect of Oxooil LS9 to any individual component(s), analytical determination of the concentration of Oxooil LS9 in the sediment and pour water would be extremely challenging. Hence, the equilibrium partitioning method has been used to assess hazard to sediment organisms, and based on the results of the CSA and in accordance with REACH Annex X section 9.5.1, long-term testing to sediment organisms is not proposed.
