Conclusion on classification

The substance was tested for three trophic levels in the aquatic enviroment using acute test design and the most sensitive species was Daphnia magna. The substance is readily biodegradable but is of extremely low water solubility.

The following effect levels are provided based on the presently conducted studies:

Fish- NOEC 100 mg/L
Algae- NOEC 500 mg/L
Daphnia-  EL50 7.2 m/L loading rate WAF

Based on the available data, the substance is not classified for environment according to Annex VI. According to UN GHS section 4.1.2.2, For such poorly soluble substances, the toxicity may not be adequately assessed in short-term testing. The effect level provided from testing using solvents exceeds the water solubility of the substance by a factor of >ten and limited confirmation of dose levels was possible.

The need for classification was negated by demonstrating that the substance does not require classification for aquatic long-term (chronic) hazards.
