Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The study attempts to test an insoluble substance in different types of solutions. No effect concentrations ranged 10mg/l (0,2% DMF solvent added: not valid for hazard assessment) - 10000 mg/l (Ultrasonic method); direct addition of polysulfides, di-tert-dodecyl in the GST middle culture did not determine an inhibitory effect up to a dose of 10 g/l but found that bacterial growth was superior to that of controls.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
10 g/L

Additional information

Hervouet (1989) is 16 hour, freshwater study on Pseudomonas putida following the method Norme ISO/TC 147/SC 5 WG 1(N111). Due to the low solubility of the substance, several solutions were prepared, leading to a range of No Effect Concentrations. The results indicate that a direct addition of di-tert-dodecyl up to a dose of 10 g/l did not inhibit bacterial growth, but bacterial growth was instead found to be superior to that of the controls. The study is considered reliable and suitable for use for this endpoint.

These results would lead to di-tert-dodecyl not being classified as toxic to micro-organisms.
