Description of key information

Appearance:

On the basis of physical observation and using the sense of smell, test chemical was observed to be a dark yellow-brown solid mass.

Melting point:

The melting point of test chemical was estimated to be 335 ˚C.

Boiling Point:

The boiling point determination of Test item was done as per the test guideline OECD 103. The method followed was according to Siwoloboff. The mean was determine to be greater than 350°C at 976.3 hPa.

Density:

Based on prediction done using ACD/I-Lab 2.0, the density of test chemical was estimated to be 1.03 g/cm3 at temperature 20 Deg C & pressure 760 Torr.

Particle size distribution:

The particle size distribution study cannot perform for test chemical because it appear as a solid sticky mass.

Vapour pressure:

The estimated vapour pressure of test chemical at 25 Deg C was 2.19E-19 Pa.

Partition coefficient:

The partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the test chemical was estimated to be 9.57 using OPERA V1.02. Based on this value, test chemical can be considered to be hydrophobic in nature.

Water solubility:

The water solubility determination of test item was done as per the OECD guideline 105 by spectrophotometric analytical method as per OECD 101. The solubility of test chemical in water was determine to be 0.0024 mg/L at temperature 25°C.

Thus test chemical is considered to be insoluble in water.

Surface tension:

The study does not need to be conducted because water solubility is below 1 mg/L at 20°C.

Flash point:

The flash point determination of Test item was done. The method was closed cup method using Pensky-Martens Flash Point Apparatus.no flash was observed up to 300 °C, inferring flash point to be greater than 300 °C at 976.1 hPa.

Auto flammability:

Test chemical did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that test chemical is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

Test chemical does not indicate any ignition when the flame of Bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that test chemical is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus test chemical was considered non-flammable.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.

Oxidizing properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid.

pH:

The pH determination of test item was done as per the test guideline OECD 122. The mean pH of the test dispersion was determined with the help of digital pH meter. The mean pH was determine to be 6.04 at 26.2 °C.
