Key result
Water solubility:
199 µg/L
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
8
Remarks on result:
other: The limit of quantification of the analytical method was fixed at 100 µg/L.
Water solubility:
155 µg/L
Temp.:
30 °C
pH:
8
Remarks on result:
other: The limit of quantification of the analytical method was fixed at 100 µg/L.
Conclusions:
Interpretation of results: slightly soluble (0.1-100 mg/L)
In a valid guideline study (OECD 105, with GLP) using the columns elution method the solubility of in water was determined to be 199 µg/L at 20 °C and 155 µg/L at 30 °C. The pH value of all test solutions was 8. So the test substance is considered to be slightly soluble. No temperature dependence of the water solubility was observed.
Executive summary:

In a valid guideline study (OECD 105, with GLP) using the columns elution method the solubility of in water was determined to be 199 µg/L at 20 °C and 155 µg/L at 30 °C. The pH value of all test solutions was 8.

Analyses were performed by HPLC-UV on a reversed-phase column (C 18) with online extraction against an external standard. The method was validated with satisfactory results with respect to linearity, accuracy, precision and specificity. The pH values of the samples were measured with special indicator sticks. All samples were checked negative for colloidal material by measuring of the Tyndall effect.

So the test substance is considered to be slightly soluble. No temperature dependence of the water solubility was observed.

Additional information

The key study (Lange, 2009) reports a water solubility value for Isodecyl methacrylate of 199 µg/L at 20°C. Even a very low solubility of Isodecyl methacrylate was calculated (0.378 mg/L at 25 °C) with the valid calculation method for IDMA using EpiWin version 4.00 (Evonik Röhm GmbH, 2011).
