Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

The substance itself is explosive and should hence be stabilized in an acidic cooled solution. Due to the acidity this solution is corrosive. The first aid measures described below apply to the acidic cooled solution:

- Inhalation: If breathed in, move person into fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Consult a physician.

- Skin: In case of skin contact, remove/take off all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with plenty of water. In case of reddened skin or burns consult a physician.

- Eye: In case of eye contact, flush eyes with plenty of water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Eyelids should be held away from the eyeball to ensure thorough rinsing. Always consult an ophthalmologist.

- Ingestion: Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Rinse mouth with plenty of water. Consult a physician.

Fire-fighting measures

The substance itself is explosive and should hence be kept in an acidic cooled solution. The fire-fighting measures for this acidic cooled solution are described below:

- Suitable extinguishing media: Use water spray, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

- Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.

In case of accidental and non-intentional isolation of the dry substance in combination with fire, following fire-fighting measures are applicable:

- Major fire: Do not attempt to extinguish large fire, evacuate area.

- Minor fire: Use water spray or foam

- Special hazards: explosion risk in case of fire. The explosion risk is related to the moisture content: the drier the substance, the greater the explosion risk. Do not fight fire when fire reaches explosives. If it is not possible to contain the fire very quickly, immediately withdraw from the area on fire.

Accidental release measures

In case of accidental release of the acidic cooled solution, following measures apply:

- Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Use personal protective equipment. Avoid breathing vapours and mist. Ensure adequate ventilation.

- Environmental precautions: Prevent further leakage or spillage. Do not let product enter drains.

- Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up: Keep moist and avoid drying of the substance. Clean up wet. Do not make use of sparking tools or metals. Dispose in suitable, closed containers which are kept cooled.

Handling and storage

The substance itself is explosive and should hence be stabilized in an acidic cooled solution. The handling and storage of this acidic cooled solution is described below:

- Precautions for safe handling of the acidic cooled solution: The usual precautions for handling of chemicals should be observed. Avoid any direct contact (skin and eyes) with the product. Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

- Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: the substance should always be stabilized in a cool, acidic solution. Do not allow to dry. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

The substance itself is explosive and should hence be stabilized in an acidic cooled solution. The exposure controls described apply to this acidic cooled solution:

Exposure controls:

- Appropriate engineering controls: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Personal protective equipment:

- Eye/face protection: Safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN166. Use equipment for eye protection tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or EN 166(EU).

- Skin protection: Handle with gloves. Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Use proper glove removal technique (without touching glove's outer surface) to avoid skin contact with this product. Dispose of contaminated gloves after use in accordance with applicable laws and good laboratory practices. Wash and dry hands. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it.

- Body Protection: The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.

- Respiratory protection: Filter masks with filter type E/P2.

Control of environmental exposure

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability: Substance is only stable in cooled acidic solution.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: Explosion risks when substance gets isolated and is in its dry form.

Conditions to avoid: High temperatures. Isolation in its dry form.

Incompatible materials: Strong oxidizing agents, Strong bases. Metals. Electron rich substances.

Hazardous decomposition products: No data available

Disposal considerations
