Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VIII, the adsorption/desorption screening test does not have to be conducted since 1-methyl-1-phenylethyl peroxyneodecanoate is readily biodegradable.

The Koc used in the risk assessment refers to the breakdown product neodecanoic acid, determined by QSAR calculation.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
62.89

Additional information

The log Koc for neodecanoic acid was estimated by means of QSAR (KOCWIN v2.00) since experimental determination is not mandatory under REACH. This compound is a degradation product of the parent substance 1-methyl-1-phenylethyl peroxyneodecanoate and therefore relevant for the environmental risk assessment.

Information on the environmental fate of neodecanoic acid (CAS-No.: 26896 -20 -8) are estimated using EPISuite v4.1. SMILES Notation used: CC(C)(C)CCCCCC(=O)O.

Neodecanoic acid has a log Koc of 1.799 (EPISuite v4.1/KOWWIN v1.67). Based on QSAR estimation, the degradation product neodecanoic acid has no considerable potential for adsorption to soil and sediment particles or other solid organic matter. The adsorption coefficient to organic matter is Koc = 62.89 L/kg (calculated value was determined using EPISuite v4.1/KOCWIN v2.00).
