Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with the ECHA Guidance on CLP criteria, chapter 2.15, "the explosive properties do not have to be determined according to the CLP Annex I, Chapter 2.1, because explosive properties are incorporated in the decision logic for organic peroxides." 1-methyl-1-phenylethyl peroxyneodecanoate in its marketed form is an organic peroxide Type D and as such not explosive. However, formation of explosive air/ vapour mixtures is possible.

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Type D classification according to CLP regulation, Annex I, chapter 2.15, combines all organic peroxides, which in laboratory testing:

1) detonate partly, do not deflagrate fast and show no violent effect while heated under confinement, or

2) do not detonate generally, deflagrate slowly and show no violent effect while heated under confinement, or

3) do not detonate or deflagrate generally and and show no violent effect while heated under confinement.
