First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

First-aid measures after inhalation:
Remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. If you feel unwell, seek medical advice. Turn victim's head towards side, if victim is breathing and vomiting.

First-aid measures after skin contact:
Remove affected clothing and wash all exposed skin area with mild soap and water, followed by warm water rinse. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

First-aid measures after eye contact:
IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Get medical advice/attention.

First-aid measures after ingestion:
If accidentally swallowed rinse the mouth with plenty of water (only if the person is conscious) and obtain immediate medical attention. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person or a person with cramps. Keep at rest.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:
No additional information available.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:
No additional information available.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:
Alcohol resistant foam. Dry extinguishing powder. Carbon dioxide. Dry sand. Atomized water.

Unsuitable extinguishing media:
Do not use a heavy water stream. Must not use water directly for fire extinguishing. Atomized water can be used for the cooling.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Fire hazard:
Carbon monoxide.

Advice for firefighters
Firefighting instructions:
Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so. Evacuate area. Use water spray or fog for cooling exposed containers. Fight fire remotely due to the risk of explosion. Prevent fire fighting water from entering the environment.

Protection during firefighting:
Do not attempt to take action without suitable protective equipment.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

General measures:
Isolate from fire, if possible, without unnecessary risk. Use special care to avoid static electric charges.

For non-emergency personnel:
No additional information available.

For emergency responders:
No additional information available.

Environmental precautions:
Prevent spread over a wide area (e.g. by containment or oil barriers). Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

For containment:
Collect spillage.

Methods for cleaning up:
Take up liquid spill into absorbent material.

Reference to other sections:
No additional information available.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Precautions for safe handling:
Use personal protective equipment as required. Do not handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood.

Hygiene measures:
Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking and when leaving work. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Technical measures:
Take precautionary measures against static discharge.

Storage conditions:
Store in a place accessible by authorized persons only. Keep locked up. Keep container closed when not in use. Keep cool. Protect from sunlight. Keep in fireproof place.

Incompatible products:
Oxidizing agent. Strong acids. Strong bases.

Specific end use(s):
No additional information available.

Exposure controls

Appropriate engineering controls:
Refer to chapter "Handling and storage". Additional information about structure of technical plants: Devices with local exhaust. Provide eye wash and label its location conspicuously.

Hand protection:
Wear protective gloves.
Material: butyl-rubber
Break through time: > 120 min
Glove tickness: 0.7 mm
Directive: DIN EN 374
For special purposes, it is recommended to check the resistance to chemicals of the protective gloves mentioned above together with the supplier of these gloves

Eye protection:
Framed glasses, Chemical goggles, face shield

Skin and body protection:
Wear protective clothing: Lab coat. Lab apron. Chemical resistant suit. Safety shoes

Respiratory protection:
Use respiratory protection unless adequate local exhaust ventilation is provided.
Filter type: Organic vapour type (A)

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity:
No data available.

Chemical stability:
Stable under normal conditions.

Possibility of hazardous reactions:
No additional information available.

Conditions to avoid:
Overheating. Sparks. Open flame. Direct sunlight.

Incompatible materials:
Oxidizing agents. Reducing agents. Peroxides.

Hazardous decomposition products:
Carbon monoxide.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Waste treatment methods:
Dispose of contents/container in accordance with national/local regulation.

Ecology - waste materials:
Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation. Avoid release to the environment. Contents and container must be handled properly in accordance with the national law and rules of local government.
