Preliminary Test:

The preliminary estimate of water solubility was 7.56 g/L at 20.0°C

The mean peak areas relating to the standard and sample solutions are shown in the following table:

 Solution Mean Peak area
 Standard 2.52 x 10E3 mg/L  2.3267 x10E7
  Standard 2.55 x 10E3 mg/L    2.3378 x10E7
 Matrix blank  None detected
 Sample 1A   2.9313 x10E7
  Sample 1B   2.9346 x10E7
  Sample 2A   3.0322 x10E7
  Sample 2B   3.0225 x10E7
  Sample 3A  2.9361 x10E7
  Sample 3B   2.9427 x10E7

The concentration (g/L) of test item in the sample solutions is shown in the following table:

Sample number Time shake at ca. 30°C (hours)  Time equilibrated at 20°C (hours)  Concentration (g/L)  Solution pH
 1A  24  24  12.8  7.48
 1B  24  24  12.8  7.48
 2A  48  24  13.2  5.91
 2B  48  24 13.2   5.91
 3A  72  24  12.8  7.52
 3C  72 24   12.8  7.52

Mean concentration: 12.9 g/L at 20°C +/- 0.5°C

Range: 12.8 to 13.2 g/L

Standard deviation: 0.229

VALIDATION:

The linearity of the detector response with respect to concentration was assessed over the nominal concentration range of 1.51 x10E3 to 1.51x10E4 g/L. This was satisfactory with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.9993 being obtained.

DISCUSSION:

Peaks observed in the sample chromatography at retention times of approximately 4.3 and 4.6 minutes were considered to be most likely due to water soluble impurities in the test item and were not included in the water solubility calculation.

On completion of the equilibration period, the samples were clear and colorless with excess test item present at the bottom of the test vessels. After filtration through 0.45 microm filters, the supernatant was visually observed to be clear/colorless and free from un-dissolved test item.

The correlation coefficient (r) of the calibration curve was 0.9993 (optimum 1.0000). This reflects the linearity of the HPLC within the calibration range of 1.51 x10E3 to 1.51x10E4 g/L of the test item.

All individual water solubility results were within +/- 15% of the mean, thus satisfying the criteria specified in the guidelines.

The water solubilty of the test item has been determined to  be 12.9 g/L of solution at 20.0 +/- 0.5 °C.

Conclusions:
The water solubilty of the test item has been determined to be 12.9 g/L of solution at 20.0 +/- 0.5 °C.
Executive summary:

Water solubilty: 12.9 g/L of solution at 20.0 +/- 0.5 °C using the flask method, designed to be compatible with Method A6 Water Solubility of Commission Regulation (EC) N°440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 105 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995.
