Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In accordance with REACH Annex VIII, point 9.3.1 "Adsorption/desorption screening", column 2, as well as REACH Annex IX, point 9.3.3 "Further information on adsorption/desorption", column 2, the studies do not need to be conducted as the substance and its relevant degradation products degrade rapidly. However, information on adsorption/desorption is given for the major hydrolytical breakdown product, 2-ethyl-hexan-1-ol, which is relevant for assessing environmental fate and toxicity.
The Koc used in the risk assessment refers to the major breakdown product 2-ethyl-hexan-1-ol, determined by QSAR calculation.

Additional information

The log Koc for 2 -ethyl-hexan-1-ol was estimated by means of QSAR (KOCWIN v2.00) since experimental determination is not mandatory under REACH. This compound is the major hydrolytical degradation product of the parent substance bis(2-ethylhexyl)peroxydicarbonate and therefore relevant for the environmental risk assessment.

The Koc, estimated based on MCI, is relatively low (35.28 L/kg), indicating no significant adsorption tendency of the substance.
