Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

OB 2 -A is an organic white-yellow powder at 20 °C and 1013 hPa; it is a member of the Stilbene Fluorescent Whitening Agents (SFWA) category.

Below 300 °C (573 K) neither a boiling, nor a melting point were detected.

Particle size distribution showed that the substance is characterized by a MMAD of 4.7 µm.

The partition coefficient was determined by means of shake flask method according to OECD 107. The log Kow of test item was determined as -1.58 at 25 °C, pH 6.6, showing a lower affinity with the organic fraction, than the water one.

The substance is soluble in water (1.9 g/l at 20 °C, pH 10.5), while the fat solubility is lower than 0.1 mg/100 g fat.

Under environmental conditions the substance dissociates completely in water.

Since the substance is solid, properties as vapour pressure, surface tension, flash point can be disregarded, while viscosity determination is technically not feasible.

The substance does not ignite and propagate combustion; no chemical groups associated with explosive and oxidising properties are present in the molecule and the substance does not meet the criteria to be considered as flammable/explosive/oxidising.

Furthermore, the screening test for Thermal Stability and Stability in Air, DTA, confirmed that no decomposition or chemical transformation is present below 150 °C and thus the substance can be considered not to be self-reactive.
