according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
column elution method
Specific details on test material used for the study:
SOURCE OF TEST MATERIAL
- Source and lot/batch No.of test material: Pergan GmbH, batch no. 1271219-01
- Expiration date of the lot/batch: Minimum 6 months
- Purity test date: 13/11/2018

STABILITY AND STORAGE CONDITIONS OF TEST MATERIAL
- Storage condition of test material: Maximum temperature +15 °C, in tightly sealed orginal container
- Stability under test conditions: Stable

TREATMENT OF TEST MATERIAL PRIOR TO TESTING
- Treatment of test material prior to testing: None
Key result
Water solubility:
< 0.6 µg/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Temp.:
20 °C
Remarks on result:
not determinable
Remarks:
water solubility is below the the LOQ of 0.6 µg/L
Conclusions:
The water solubility of bis(4-tert-butylcyclohexyl) peroxydicarbonate was determined using the column elution method. Stable concentrations at or above the LOQ of 0.6 µg/L could not be determined. Therefore, the water solublity is < 0.6 µg/L. Bis(4-tert-butylcyclohexyl) peroxydicarbonate is essentially insoluble in water.
Executive summary:

The water solubility of bis(4-tert-butylcyclohexyl) peroxydicarbonate was determined using the column elution method. Stable concentrations at or above the LOQ of 0.6 µg/L could not be determined. Therefore, the water solublity is < 0.6 µg/L. Bis(4-tert-butylcyclohexyl) peroxydicarbonate is essentially insoluble in water.

Description of key information

Bis(4-tert-butylcyclohexyl) peroxydicarbonate is considered to be insoluble in water, based the column elution method consistently producing values below the LOQ of 0.6 µg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
0.6 µg/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Older attempts to determine the water solubility of bis(4-tert-butylcyclohexyl) peroxydicarbonate are considered invalid due to significant methodological deficiencies. A recent study employing the column elution method (Hüben, 2019) could not detect the substance at or above the LOQ of the analytical method of 0.6 µg/L. Bis(4-tert-butylcyclohexyl) peroxydicarbonate is therefore essentially insoluble in water.
