Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
adsorption / desorption: screening
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient and the adsorption potential of this substance is related to this parameter

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

(Chloromethyl)triethoxysilane hydrolyses in contact with water to the corresponding (chloromethyl)silanetriol, which have low log Kow values (<3) and thus have low potential for sorption. Therefore, in accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the adsorption/desorption screening test does not need to be conducted for the silanol hydrolysis products.

For environmental exposure assessment, adsorption has been estimated based on log Kowusing TGD (Technical Guidance Document) non-hydrophobics equation. The calculated log Koc is 0.0147 (Kocof -1.83) (KOCWIN, EPISUITE 4.10).
