Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
read-across from supporting substance (structural analogue or surrogate)
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
study well documented, meets generally accepted scientific principles, acceptable for assessment
Justification for type of information:
First, it could be shown that the complex EDTA-CoNa2 is a non-flammable solid. Next to this, the auto flammability of the complex depends strongly on the organic moiety EDTA. Therefore, it is necessary to observe the auto flammability behavior of EDTA. For the test disodium dihydrogen ethylenediaminetetraacetate was used.
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
read-across source
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Relative self-ignition temperature:
> 400 °C
Remarks on result:
other: at atm. pressure of 1013.25 hPa

Up to the melting point no self-heating was registered.

Conclusions:
The auto flammability of the complex EDTA-CoNa2 depends strongly on the organic moiety EDTA. No self-heating of EDTA-Na2 could be observed which can be used for the conclusion, that also the EDTA-CoNa2 complex has no self-heating properties.
