First-aid measures

Eye contact: Immediately flush the eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Ensure flushing under eyelids. A victim may need assistance in keeping their eyelids open. Get immediate competent medical attention.

Skin contact: Wash affected area with soap and plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothes if necessary. Seek medical assistance if irritation persists.

Ingestion: Seek medical attention. Keep the victim calm.

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air and keep at rest. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Get medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable: Use metal extinguishing media, suitable for type of surrounding fire.

Not suitable: Do not use a direct water jet as this may spread the fire.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

When heated to decomposition emits flammable hydrogen gas. Contact with water may release the hydrogen gases.

Advice for firefighters

Keep people away. Isolate fire and deny unnecessary entry.

Firefighters should wear full face, self contained breathing apparatus with full protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes. Fumes of fire are hazardous.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Use the chemical safety goggles.  In case of powder spill, wear filter mask or respirator.

Wear suitable chemical-resistant gloves in accordance with EN 420 and EN 374.When selecting a specific glove for a particular application and duration of use in a workplace, all relevant factors in the workplace should also be taken into account, such as, but not limited to: Other chemicals that can be used, physical requirements (cut/puncture protection, history, thermal protection), possible body reactions to glove materials as well as the instructions/specifications of the glove supplier. The chemical resistance of the personal protective gloves should be clarified and confirmed by the supplier. For people with sensitive skin, the use of a barrier cream may be needed if excessive or prolonged contact with the skin is likely.

Environmental precautions

No special procedures.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Pick up pieces of the material, use of the protective gloves is advisable. Powder spills should be cleaned with vacuum or sweep up fine material and place into suitable container.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Technical measures/ Precautions: Local or general exhaust ventilation.

General occupation hygiene: The use of respiratory protection is advised when concentrations of dust is high. Do not wear contaminated clothing or shoes.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Technical measures/ Storage conditions: Keep containers tightly closed. Use and store this material in cool, dry, well ventilated areas. It is recommended to store only in approved containers, filled with inert gas. Protect containers against physical damage. Avoid contact with water.

Incompatible products: None known.

Exposure controls

Appropriate engineering controls: Use of adequate ventilation is good industrial practice.

Environmental exposure controls: No special precautions.

Personal protection

Respiratory protection: Air purification respirator in case of dust formation.

Hand protection: Use of gloves advisable. Disposal considerations

Waste treatment from residues: Remaining material should be collected and recycled if possible.

Product /Packaging Disposal: Containers should be cleaned by appropriate method and then re-used or disposed by landfill or incineration as appropriate, in accordance with local and national regulations.

Sewage disposal-relevant information: Follow all applicable community, national or regional regulations regarding waste management methods.

Other disposal recommendations: All waste must be labelled accordingly.
