Results of test BASF AG, 1989, 89/1320

During the 72 h exposure to Pentacarbonyliron fluorescence values were as follows (average of 4 replicates)*:

Nominal test fluorometer values after x hours

ECx values (in mg/l) after x hours of exposure

EC50 357.5 190.2 149.5
EC90 - 435.5 418.3
---------------------------------------------------------------------

No chemical dose verification was performed. All values refer to nominal test concentrations of Pentacarbonyliron.
EC values are related to solubilizer control.

Remark: Strong growth support by solubilzer Chremophor RH 40 was observed.

In a new mathematical evaluation, critical concentrations of BASF AG Algae test 89/1320, has been re-calculated, in order to allow an assessment based on growth rate and biomass (according to the requirements given in OECD guideline 201). (BASF AG 2007, 2/1320/89)

The mathematical evaluation was based on a linear relationship between fluorescence and cell number and raw data were equated with cell numbers.
