Preliminary solubility results

Reference samples and extract were first measured in the range 190/800 nm, so as to choose the right wavelength for quantitative measurements.

The extract showed absorption only in UV region. This was due to the presence of a water-soluble component, which differed from the main product.

Test results

Considering that the product was not completely soluble in reference solution, and that the absorbance of test solutions were below the sensibility limit of the instrument in visible region, just an approximate solubility was determined.

Approximate solubility: << 20 mg/l

pH mother solution: 4.54

pH satured solution: 6.40

Conclusions:
Approximate solubility: << 20 mg/l (20 °C; pH 6.40 saturated solution).
Executive summary:

Method

Result

Approximate solubility << 20 mg/l at 20 °C and pH 6.40.
