Description of key information

For Lepomis macrochirus an EC10 of 4.28 mg/L ammonium chloride was calculated after an exposure duration of 30 days.

Additional information

For risk assessment of ammonium chloride the total topic of ammonia toxicity was regarded. Species mean chronic values (SMCV), as given by U.S. EPA (1999) were considered as relevant endpoints. The lowest species mean chronic value was calculated for Lepomis macrochirus EC20 = 1.35 mg N/L and EC10 = 1.12 mg N/L = 4.28 mg/L ammonium chloride (Smith et al. 1984, adjusted to pH 8 and 25 °C).
