Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

EC50 for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L

Additional information

In order to assess the toxicity to aquatic algae of the test substance barium titanium trioxide (purity: > 99 weight-%), the test in Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata was performed according to the method described in OECD guideline 201 (TÜV SÜD PSB, 2012). A limit test with a concentration of 100 mg/L of the test substance was carried out with an exposure duration of 48 hours.

The EC50 for growth rate was estimated to be higher than 100 mg/L as no inhibition effect on the growth of the algae used for the test was observed.

From the above study, the test item Barium titanate milled ABT-O-21 has passed the limit test. At a concentration of 100 mg/L the test substance had no inhibition effect on the growth of the algae used for the test. The EC50 of the test substance is higher than 100 mg/L.
