Details on results:
The 24-hour scoping study for ruthenium (IV) oxide indicate a lack of reactivity, 0.9 and 0.17 µg/L at pH 6 and pH 8.5, respectively. In the definitive tests at pH 6, there were no net concentration changes for ruthenium (IV) oxide in the 1 and 10 mg/L loadings. In the 100 mg/L loadings, the net concentration of Ru increased to ~0.10 µg/L (σ % = 13) at 6 hours, before declining slightly to 0.08 µg/L at seven days.
Conclusions:
In the definitive tests at pH 6, there were no net concentration changes for ruthenium (IV) oxide in the 1 and 10 mg/L loadings, after 28 and 7 days respectively.
