Endpoint:
appearance / physical state / colour
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
comparable to guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to other study
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Non GLP. VIsual inspection was carried out to confirm the physical state and colour at room temperature and under normal pressure.
Information from study endpoint. The data is acceptable with restriction.
GLP compliance:
no
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Lot No.D2D0609
Purity 100 %
Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
solid
Key result
Form:
solid: granular
Colour:
red-violet
Odour:
biting
Substance type:
inorganic
Conclusions:
Aluminium trititanium dodecachloride is red-violet solid at standard temperature and pressure under nitrogen atmosphere, inert atmosphere.
The state and its colour was checked by visual inspection at room temperature and normal pressure. The odour was inspected by opening the bottle in a food. Aluminium trititanium dodecachloride reacts with air to liberate hydrogen chloride. Thus the odour was assigned as biting odour. The method is similar to OPPS 830 series, thus this result was acceptable.
Executive summary:

Aluminium trititanium dodecachloride is red-violet solid at standard temperature and pressure under nitrogen atmosphere, inert atmosphere. The odour was inspected by opening the bottle in a food. Aluminium trititanium dodecachloride reacts with air to liberate hydrogen chloride. Thus the odour was assigned as biting odour. Description of key information

Aluminium trititanium dodecachloride is red-violet solid under inert gas condition.

On contact with air, this product decomposes to liberate hydrogen chloride, titanium oxides and aluminium oxides.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
solid
