The key study for skin sensitisation (ARC, 2007) is the only study available for this endpoint. The test was carried out in accordance with an appropriate OECD test guideline and in compliance with GLP, and was therefore assigned Reliability 1. No positive skin reactions were observed in any animals in the test and control groups at challenge.

The key skin sensitisation study (ARC, 2007) was carried out in accordance with OECD 406 (Buehler method) and in compliance with GLP. Tall Oil Pitch was not sensitising under the conditions of the test. No positive skin reactions were observed in any animals in the test and control groups at challenge.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on reliable in vivo data, Tall Oil Pitch is not classified as a skin sensitiser according to the criteria of EU Directive 67/548/EEC or Regulation 1272/2008.

No data are available regarding respiratory sensitisation.
