Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Hydrolytic stability is important for understanding the persistence or stability of a chemical substance in water. The hydrolysis study (required in Section 9.2.2.1) does not need to be conducted on the basis of chemical structure, some constituents of pitch contain ester functionalities which in principle are susceptible to hydrolysis under certain conditions, however, hydrolysis is unlikely under temperature and pH conditions relevant to the environment. This fate process will not contribute to a measurable degradative loss of the substance from the environment.

The substance can therefore be considered as stable under hydrolytic condition.
