Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

EC50 72 h algae = 7.8 mg/L

EC10 72 h algae = 1.5 mg/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance was tested for aquatic algae toxicity on Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (formerly Selenastrum capricornutum) following OECD 201 (1984) and Royal Decree 363/1995 (BOE. 133 June 1995).

The result obtained indicates an EC 50 at 72h of 7.8 mg/L and EC10 estrapolated of 1.5 mg/l. However, considering that the test substance is a dyestuff which could influence the photosynthesis capacity of algae cells in the test solution and in order to clarify the (eco)toxicological properties related to toxicity for aquatic plants, it was considered a test performed on a structural analogue and conducted using the Lemna minor as a test organism, according to the OECD guideline 221, as suggested also in the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.7b: Endpoint specific guidance (Version 2.0 November 2014), published by the European Chemical Agency.
