- A mammalian dataset is available with the submission substance, therefore further in-vivo testing on birds is not considered necessary or justified on ethical grounds.
- The substance is an intermediate used under highly controlled conditions and no significant exposure of the environment is expected.
- Bioaccumulation is not of concern for this substance.
- The available data for toxicity to mammals indicate that the substance is not classified for these endpoints.
No data are available on the toxicity of silane (CAS 7803-62-5; EC No. 232-263-4) to birds.
In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex X, long-term and reproductive toxicity testing with birds (required in Section 9.6) is not needed for the following reasons:
