Description of key information

The self-ignition temperature for tungsten metal was reported to be 310 °C (particle size not reported). Also, tungsten metal was tested for self-heating and, at the particle size tested (0.6-0.9 um), classifies as a Self-heating, Category 2 substance under CLP.

Results from a test conducted according to UN test method N4 resulted in ignition of the 100 mm cubes at 140, 120, and 100 °C. However no ignition was observed for the 25 mm cube at 140 °C.
