Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Workers - Hazard for the eyes

Additional information - workers

As no Chemical Safety Assessment Report is required for the transported isolated intermediate NTAN, no DNEL values have been calculated for the worker.

Because of the oral LD50 value of 50 -200 mg/kg bw; the test substance NTAN needs classification in GHS cat. III and R25 according to DSD-DPD. Based on the results described, NTAN would need classification in GHS cat. IV and R21according to DSD-DPD for acute dermal toxicity.

Due to the minimal degree of skin and eye irritation observed, NTAN does not meet the criteria for classification as a skin and eye irritant.

Based on the chemical structure of NTAN it is very unlikely that NTAN has skin sensitising properties.

Based on the severe toxicity observed following repeated oral treatment at 45 mg/kg bw/day (death and severe clinical signs of toxicity), NTAN should be classified with R48/22 and STOT repeated exposure Cat. 2.

Because both the Ames test and the chromosome aberration test showed that NTAN was not mutagenic, no classification for genotoxicity is needed.

In a combined subacute/reproduction/developmental toxicity study, NTAN did not show reproduction/developmental toxicity at a level up to 45 mg/kg bw, although this level resulted in severe parental toxicity, including death. As such no classification for reproduction toxicity is warranted.

As no Chemical Safety Assessment/Report is required for the transported isolated intermediate NTAN, no DNEL values have been calculated for the general population.
