Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
21 MAR 2013 - 28 MAY 2013
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Version / remarks:
European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Preliminary test

The test item was tested without pre-treatment and it could not be ignited with a flame. The main test had not to be performed.

Interpretation of results:
other: EU GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item could not be ignited with a flame.
Executive summary:

The flammability of the test item was tested in a non-GLP study according to EU Method A.10. The test item could not be ignited with a flame in the preliminary test. Therefore the main test has not to be performed.

The test item is not a highly flammable solid in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Method A. 10.

Endpoint:
substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance does not contain metals or metalloids and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
the study does not need to be conducted because the experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water, e.g. the substance is manufactured with water or washed with water
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture
Interpretation of results:
other: EU GHS criteria not met
Endpoint:
pyrophoric solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Interpretation of results:
other: EU GHS criteria not met

Description of key information

Flammability:

The flammability of the test item was tested in a non-GLP study according to EU Method A.10. The test item could not be ignited with a flame in the preliminary test. Therefore the main test has not to be performed.

The test item is not a highly flammable solid in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, Method A. 10.

Flammability, contact with water:

The study does not to be conducted because the substance is known to be soluble in water to form a stable mixture. Furthermore the substance does not contain metals or metalloids and experiende in production or handling shows that the substance does not react with water.

Flammability, pyrophoric solids:

The study is scientifically not necessary, because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the Flammability test according to EU Method A.10 the test item could not be ignited with a flame in the preliminary test, therefore no classification as highly flammable solid is applicable.

Based on the physical state, the structural elements and the experience in handling and manufacture the substance has not to be classified as flammable in contact with water, nor as pyrophoric solid. Regarding classification as self-heating substance there is a data lack. Therefore no conclusion for this criteria is available.
