Toxicity to soil macroorganisms except arthropods

Description of key information

Most sensitive values for different terrestrial macroorganisms except arthropods are summarised in the EU-RAR (2008). According to these data, the effect concentrations for Trinickel dicitrate were calculated. Values in brackets refered to data without background correction. The background correction was made in the EU-RAR (2008), when only nominal values were available.
Eisenis fetida: EC10 (28d, reproduction) = 149.8 mg Trinickel Dicitrate/kg dw (146.4 mg Trinickel Dicitrate/kg dw)
Eisenia veneta: EC10 (28d, reproduction) = 286.3 mg Trinickel Dicitrate/kg dw (266.4 mg Trinickel Dicitrate/kg dw)
Enchytraeus albidus: NOEC (42d, reproduction) = 566.5 mg Trinickel Dicitrate/kg dw

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Data on chronic single-species toxicity tests resulting in NOEC/L(E)C10 values for soil invertebrates are summarised in Table 3.2.3-3 of the EU-RAR (2008) (see attachment of the key study record of chapter 6.3.1). Values selected for the effects assessment are underlined. In the total risk approach 21 individual NOECs (for 4 different anilids) are selected ranging from 47.6 mg Ni/kg to 1140 mg/kg for Eisenia fetida reproduction (149.8 mg Trinickel Dicitrate/kg to 3587.6 mg Trinickel Dicitrate/kg).

The detailed toxicity data for Eisenia fetida could not be shown here, because this data were not public available. So the most sensitive data for Eisenia veneta were recorded here in detail.
