The measured values for the reference substances were:

Flash point of butanol: 36.0°C and 36.0°C

Flash point of N,N dimethylformamide: 58.1°C and 59.0°C

Flash point of Setaflash Certified Material 99878 -3: 74.3°C and 75.0°C

The measured values for the test item were : 51.3 °C and 51.1 °C.

According to the Standard Test Method ASTM D 3828 -97 the precision of the method is for a flash point of 149°C as follow:

The flash point was determined with a closed cup tester by an equilibrium method "Small Scale", commonly known as Setaflash where the vapours are deemed to be in temperature equilibrium with the liquid. The study was based on the procedures indicated by the following internationally accepted methods:

- ASTM D 3828 -97: Standard Test Methods for Flash Point by Small Scale Closed Tester.

- EU method Part A, A.9
