Description of key information

Appearance:

On the basis of physical observations it is concluded that 3-Bromoquinoline appear as a yellow liquid.

Freezing point:

Freezing point of 3-Bromoquinoline determine to be 13.3 Deg C.

Boiling Point:

Boiling point of 3-Bromoquinoline determine to be 275 Deg C.

Density:

Density of 3-Bromoquinoline determine to be 1.5617 g/cm3 at 25 Deg C.

Particle size distribution:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form. On the basis of physical observations it is concluded that 3-Bromoquinoline appear as a liquid.

Vapour pressure:

Vapour pressure of 3-Bromoquinoline determine to be 0.1959 Pa  at 25 C.

Partition coefficient:

Based on the available data in a key study from handbook, authoritative and modeling databases, the octanol water partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the test substance 3-Bromoquinoline (5332-24-1) was estimated to be 3.03.

In a supporting study from secondary source and predicted data, the partition coefficient (log Kow) of test chemical 3-Bromoquinoline was determined to be 3.03 ±0.29. Based on the predicted data chemical 3-Bromoquinoline can be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.

Thus based on the predicted and experimental data it was concluded that the chemical was hydrophilic in nature.

Water solubility:

Water solubility of 3-Bromoquinoline determine to be 103 mg/L at 25 Deg C.

Surface tension:

Based on the data from ACD labs, surface tension for 3-bromoquinoline was predicted to be 0.0512 N/m.

Flash point:

Flash point of 3-Bromoquinoline concluded to be greater than 112.75 Deg C.

Auto flammability:

3-bromoquinoline did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°Cpressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that  3-bromoquinoline is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

3-bromoquinoline does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that 3-bromoquinoline is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus 3-bromoquinoline was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.

Oxidizing properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
