In the second experiment the test substance was weighed in concentrations of 95, 171, 309, 555 and 1000 mg/l and directly dissolved in each aquarium. Since the pH-values of these test media were in the range of pH 9.6 - 10.4, the pH values were adjusted with 1 mol HCl p.A. to 7.6 - 8.0 before introduction of the fish. No remarkable observations were made at the behaviour of the test substance in the test media.
The test substance concentrations in the analysed media were in the range of 84.9 - 114.3 % of the nominal values during test duration. The test substance was sufficiently stable under test conditions. Therefore, all repoted results are related to the nominal concentrations of the test substance.
No mortalities occured in the first experiment in the nominal concentrations 5-50 mg/l.

- In this study Dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide was found to be toxic to rainbow trout after 96 h at concentrations of 95 mg/L (LOEC 96 h) and higher. The LC50 (96 h) was calculated to be 290 mg/L. The NOEC after 96 hours was 50 mg/L.

In a 96-h acute toxicity study, rainbow trout (oncorhynchus mykiss) were exposed to Dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide at nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 5, 9, 15, 28, 50, 95, 171, 309, 555, 1000 mg a.i./L under static/flow through conditions. The 96-h LC50 was 290 mg a.i./L. The NOEC value, based on mortality effects, was 50 mg a.i./L.
Based on the results of this study, Dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide would be classified as not toxic to fish in accordance with GHS.
This toxicity study is classified as acceptable and satisfies the guideline requirements for acute toxicity to fish study.

One acute freshwater study in fish is available for Dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide which is consided reliable without restrictions (Klimisch score 1).
In a 96-h acute toxicity study, rainbow trout were exposed to Dimethylaminopropyl methacrylamide under static conditions according to OECD 203.
The 96-h LC50was 290 mg/L (95% CL (confidence limit): 128 - 657 mg/L, based on mortality). The 96 -h NOEC was 50 mg/L (based on mortality) (RCC Umweltchemie GmbH & Co.
