Description of key information

In a reliable (reliability category 1) acute toxicity test performed compliant to GLP with analytical monitoring of submission substance concentration no signs of toxicity to zebra fish were observed at the nominal limit concentration of 77 mg submission substance/L (saturated solution). Thus no LC50 could be determined.

Acute fish toxicity of the submission substance was assessed by means of a limit test performed in accordance with EU-method C.1 and OECD 203 compliant to GLP (reliability category 1) using zebra fish. Due to the very poor solubility of the submission substance in water, the mean measured concentrations in test medium at the nominal limit concentration of 77 mg/L were 45 µg/L for both, the 0-hour and the 72-hour samples after filtration through a Whatman GF/C-Filter with a pore size of approximately 1.2 µm. The test material was unevenly distributed in the test media and partly lying on the bottom of the test vessel. Neither in the control nor at the nominal limit concentration of 77 mg/L submission substance any mortalities or signs of intoxication were observed till the end of the test. Therefore, the 96-hour NOEC (highest concentration tested without toxic effects after the exposure period of 96 hours), and the 96-hour LC0 of the test item to zebra fish were determined to be at least 77 mg/L submission substance.
