First-aid measures

· Description of first aid measures

After inhalation:

Supply fresh air. If required, provide artificial respiration. Keep patient warm. Consult doctor if symptoms persist.

In case of unconsciousness place patient stably in side position for transportation.

· After skin contact:

Remove contaminated clothing.

Wash skin with soap and water. If irritation develops, seek medical attention.

· After eye contact:

If irritation develops, seek medical advice.

Wash eyes immediately with large amounts of water or normal saline, occasionally lifting upper and lower lids, until no evidence of chemical remains.

· After swallowing:

Rinse mouth with water with added salt. Rinse mouth or gargle with salty water to get rid of bitter taste from mouth.

If vomiting occurs, keep head lower than hips to help prevent aspiration

· Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Skin Contact:

Acute Exposure: Itching has been reported in several persons using commercial products containing this substance.

Inhalation:

Acute Exposure: Asthmatic reactions have been reported in several persons using commercial products containing this substance.

· Information for doctor: Treat symptomatically and supportively.

Fire-fighting measures

· Suitable extinguishing agents:

Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

For larger fires: Use regular foam or flood with fine water spray.

· Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

May produce carbon mono-oxide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Dust / air mixtures may ignite or explode.

· Advice for firefighters

· Protective equipment: Wear self contained breathing apparatus for fire fighting if necessary.

Accidental release measures

· Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Particular danger of slipping on leaked/spilled product.

Wear protective equipment. Keep unprotected persons away.

Ensure adequate ventilation

· Environmental precautions: Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water.

· Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Absorb with liquid-binding material (sand, diatomite, acid binders, universal binders, sawdust).

Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

· Precautions for safe handling

Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhalation of vapour or mist.

· Information about fire - and explosion protection:

Keep ignition sources away - Do not smoke.

· Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

· Storage:

· Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles:

Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated place and out of direct sunlight.

Suitable materials for containers: High density polyethylene (HDPE), High- Purity Polymer, Stainless steel 1.4404

· Information about storage in one common storage facility:

Store away from oxidising agents.

· Further information about storage conditions:

Keep container tightly sealed. Check regularly for leaks.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Additional information about design of technical facilities:

Provide local exhaust ventilation system. Ventilation equipment should be explosion-resistant if explosive concentrations of material are present. Ensure compliance with applicable exposure limits.

Provide an emergency eye wash fountain and quick drench shower in the immediate work area.

· Exposure controls

· Personal protective equipment:

· General protective and hygienic measures:

Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and feed.

Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.

· Respiratory protection:

In case of brief exposure or low pollution use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use self-contained respiratory protective device.

Use with local exhaust ventilation or while wearing organic vapour / particulate respirator.

· Protection of hands:

Protective impervious gloves

· Material of gloves

The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. As the product is a preparation of several substances, the resistance of the glove material can not be calculated in advance and has therefore to be checked prior to the application.

· Penetration time of glove material

The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.

· Eye protection: Safety glasses

· Body protection: Wear appropraite protective clothing to prevent skin contact.

Stability and reactivity

· Reactivity Stable at ambient temperature and under normal conditions of use.

· Chemical stability

· Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided:

No decomposition if used and stored according to specifications.

· Possibility of hazardous reactions

Denatonium Benzoate: Oxidizers (Strong): Fire and explosion hazard

· Conditions to avoid:

Avoid heat, flames, sparks and other sources of ignition

· Incompatible materials:

Incompatible with oxidizing materials.

· Hazardous decomposition products:

Nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide.

Disposal considerations

· Recommendation

Incinerate according to applicable local, state and federal regulations.

Must not be disposed together with household garbage. Do not allow product to reach sewage system.

· Uncleaned packaging:

· Recommendation: Disposal must be made according to official regulations.
