Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Very little information concerning the environmental fate of the substance that was considered directly relevant to the REACH endpoints was found to be readily available. The most relevant information is that regarding the substance’s biodegradability.

The key study for biodegradability (Hanstveit, 2003) reported 0% degradation of the registered substance after 28 days and -3% after 39 days. The substance is therefore not considered readily biodegradable as the 60% degradation criterion after 28 days was not met. The oxygen consumption in the degradation test was inhibited by the test substance. Therefore, any biodegradability of tetraoctylstannane could not be demonstrated in this test due to its inhibiting effects to the inoculum.
