First-aid measures

Not to be construed as a medical recommendation

General:                     Immediately flush area with copious amounts of water.  When exposed to vapors, immediately remove victim to fresh air.

Moderate Exposure:                Remove from exposure.  Breathe a lot of fresh air. Remove contaminated shoed and discard. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use.  Wash affected areas with abundant amounts of cool, soapy water.

Extensive Exposure:                Remove to clean area and immediately notify physician.

Eyes:                              Irrigate thoroughly with water. Seek medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing Media:              Use water, Carbon Dioxide, alcohol, polymer foam. Use media appropriate for surrounding fire.

Special Fire

Fighting Procedures:              Avoid inhalation of vapors.  Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Unusual Fire and

Explosion Hazards:                Decomposes when heated to form highly irritating vapors. Do not breathe smoke or vapors. Decomposition and combustion products may be toxic.

Accidental release measures

Wear protective breathing apparatus and avoid breathing vapors.  Wear skin protective and shoe protective equipment. Ventilate area. Collect spilled material in appropriate container for disposal. Keep out of water supplies and sewers.

Handling and storage

.1 Handling:                     Material darkens on exposure to air, light and moisture. Keep away from sources of ignition – no smoking.

7.2 Storage:                     Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Mechanical ventilation is recommended. Local exhaust is needed at source of vapors. Store in tightly sealed drums. Open carefully.

Incompatible materials:       Metals. Oxidizing agents. Strong bases.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Section 8: Exposure Controls/ Personal Protection:

Respiratory:                     If respiratory protection is needed, an appropriate full face NIOSH-approved respirator for organic vapors or mists should be worn.  If respirators are used, a program should be established to assure compliance with OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.134.

Ventilation:                     Mechanical and local. Good general ventilation (typically 10 air changes per hour) should be sufficient to control airborne levels. Ventilation rates should be matched to conditions.  Supplementary local exhaust ventilation, closed systems, or respiratory protection may be needed in special circumstances such as poorly ventilated spaces, evaporation from large surfaces, spraying, heating, etc.

Protective Gloves:              Rubber

Eyes:                           Goggles & Full face shield.  A safety shower, an eye bath, and washing facilities should be available.  Wash thoroughly after handling.

Other:                            Apron and rubber shoes to prevent contamination of clothing.

Stability and reactivity

Stability:                     Stable, Avoid excessive heat and sources of ignition.

Incompatibility:                     Strong Oxidizing Agents. Strong bases. Metals.

Hazardous

decomposition products:       CO, CO2, Nitrogen oxides

Hazardous polymerization:       will not occur

Disposal considerations

Do not discharge into drains or the environment, dispose to an authorized waste collection point. Dispose in a safe manner in accordance with local/national regulations.

Material may be incinerated if mixed with a combustible solvent and burned in a chemical incinerator equipped with an afterburner and scrubber.
