Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

No effects in nitrogen transformation or respiration rates of soil microorganisms were observed up to a concentration of 1.5 mg test substance/kg soil (0.93 mg a.i./kg soil)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No experimental data investigating the toxicity of sodium 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate (CAS No. 2702-72-9) to soil microorganisms were available. Therefore, a conclusion on this endpoint was drawn based on the toxicity data of an analogue substance. Dimethylammonium 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate (CAS No. 2008-39-1) was tested in a study (Cycon, 2004) conducted according to OECD Guidelines No. 216, Soil Microorganisms, Nitrogen Transformation test and 217, Soil Microorganisms, Carbon Transformation test (2000), under GLP conditions. After 28 days of exposure in soil, no effects in nitrogen transformation or respiration rates of soil microorganisms were observed up to a concentration of 1.5 mg test substance/kg soil (0.93 mg a.i./kg soil) concentration.
