Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

LC50 values (96h) > 200 and 500 mg test substance/L (184 and 460 mg a.i./L) (Salmo gairdneri and Cyprinus carpio respectively)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The acute toxicity of sodium 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetate (CAS No. 2702-72-9) to fish species was investigated by Raszka (1996). This test was conducted according to OECD Guideline No. 203, Fish, Acute Toxicity Test (1992). After 96 hours exposure to the test item under static conditions, no effects were observed in Salmo gairdneri and Cyprinus carpio up to the highest concentration tested for each species, being the LC50s greater than 200 and 500 mg test substance/L (corresponding to 184 and 460 mg a.i./L respectively). Additional toxicity data on fish species (Pimephales promelas) could be gathered testing the main degradation product of this substance in water, 2,4 -dichlorophenoxyacetic acid, resulting in a LC50 of 100 mg a.i./L (European Commission, 2001)
