Specific details on test material used for the study:
Name: FSM-005W
Batch/Lot Number: 170321
CAS No.: 2601-33-4
Description: Colourless liquid
Purity: 19.9%
Expiry date: 20 November 2018
Storage conditions: Refrigerated and protected from light
Surface tension:
32.6 mN/m
Temp.:
21 °C
Conc.:
1.01 g/L

The surface tension of the test item aqueous solution read on the instrument was 32.0 mN/m at 21°C ± 0.5°C using the ring method representing the mean of five

separate measurements. The measured values were corrected with Harkins-Jordan correction factor.

The measured surface tension was multiplied by Φb resulting in a corrected surface tension of 32.6 mN/m.

As the surface tension value was lower than 60 mN/m, FSM-005W is classified as surface active.

Measured surface tension values and equilibrium times

Surface tension (mN/m) Time (sec)
32.03 420
32.02 444
32.02 468
32.01 492
32.01 515
Conclusions:
The determination of the surface tension was carried out on the test item, with the use of a Krüss K11 Tensiometer by ring method. The value was found to be 32.6 mN/m at 21°C ± 0.5°C.
As the surface tension value was lower than 60 mN/m, FSM-005W is classified as surface active.
Executive summary:

The determination of the surface tension was carried out on the test item, with the use of a Krüss K11 Tensiometer by ring method. The value was found to be 32.6 mN/m at 21°C ± 0.5°C, in accordance with Method A.5. “Surface Tension”, Official Journal of the European Union L 142 of 31 May 2008, and OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, Guideline No. 115, ”Surface Tension of Aqueous Solutions”, adopted 27 July 1995.
