Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Since the hydrolytic half-life of the test material has been demonstrated to be less than 10 minutes at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C, the partition coefficient of the test material was estimated as 8.19 using specialised fragment constant methodology software (KOWWIN, version 1.66, Syracuse Research Corporation, William Meylan, 1993 to 2000). The software database of experimental literature values also allowed assessment of the solubility of the proposed hydrolysis products; 2-ethylhexanol (2.73) and boric acid (-0.22).

Additional information

Due to the hydrolytic instability of the test material, no testing was possible by Method 107 or Method 117 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995 and 30 March 1989 respectively. Therefore, the partition coefficient of the test material, and the proposed hydrolysis products for environmental consideration, was estimated using the specialised chemical estimation software, KOWWIN, version 1.66, Syracuse Research Corporation, William Meylan, 1993 to 2000. The results are summarised in the table below:
