5 mg test substance were suspended in 30 mL water (bi dest.) and shaken at 400rpm for 2 hours at 30°C. Then shaking was continued at ambient temperature (23-24°C) for 70 hours followed by filtration through a 0.05µm filter. The resulting clear solution was measured by UV-vis spectrometry at  = 514nm and concentrations calculated using Lambert-Beer rule.

Executive summary:

The water solubility of the test substance Pigment Red 3 was determined according to the method agreed upon at the ”Analytical Experts Meeting” of ETAD (Basel) on January 12, 2005.

The test substance was shaken with water for 2 hours at 30°C, then for 70 hours at 23-24°C. After filtration, the solubility was tested by use of a UV-vis spectrometer. The determination was repeated three times.

The solubility of Pigment Red 3 in water at 23-24°C was determined to be 3.3µg/L.

Details on results:
The reported results showed no significant tendency to increase or decrease time-dependently. All criteria given in the guideline OECD 105 were met, therefore, the study is considered to be valid.
