Description of key information

With high probability acute not harmful to aquatic invertebrates, no toxic effects occur at the range of solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Daphnia magna were exposed to a dispersion of octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate during 24 hours in a static test. The concentrations were 0, 10, 18, 32, 58 and 100 mg/L. No effects on mobility were found at any of the concentrations tested. Since all measured concentrations were above water solubility, it was concluded that the 24-h EC50 is higher than the water solubility (Ciba-Geigy, 1984)
